About

On the edge of the Bay of Naples in Ercolano, the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum reveals a Roman town halted in AD 79 by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Unlike Pompeii, Herculaneum was sealed by deep pyroclastic flows that preserved timber, balconies, doors and vivid wall paintings. Visitors move through intact houses, bath complexes and waterfront chambers where boats once lay, sensing daily life caught in an instant beneath the volcanic ash.
