About

Behind the weekend bustle of Portobello Road, The Fat Badger plays a clever double act: a proper pub downstairs, then two flights up to a small, candlelit dining room where the evening feels curated for your table. The address sits at the top of Golborne Road, looking over Portobello Road, a stretch with more than a century of local life behind it. The cooking leans proudly British, but with a chef’s precision. The kitchen is led by George Williams, an alum of The River Café, with Beth O’Brien of Ballymaloe also credited at the helm. Expect a four course set menu that shifts with the day, and the room’s scale means the chefs can cook personally for each table. On paper, you might spot dressed crab, duck with radicchio, or a serious piece of fish, with meat and vegetables sourced with unusual care, including produce from the group’s own market garden in the Cotswolds. Add an open kitchen and counter seats upstairs, plus a pub below serving nostalgic classics and cask ale, and you have the rare Notting Hill night that feels both relaxed and quietly high stakes.
