FYN sits high above Cape Town’s city centre on the fifth floor of Speakers Corner, a short walk from historic Church Square.  The lift doors open to a room that feels like a design gallery with appetite: an open kitchen, dark tones and warm brass, and a ceiling installation that reads like oversized abacus beads suspended in a glowing cloud. Come in daylight and the city performs too, with wide windows framing Church Square and a glimpse of Table Mountain.  Chef founder Peter Tempelhoff leads the kitchen with culinary director Ashley Moss and service and beverage director Jennifer Hugé, and the house style is precision without stiffness.  Expect a kaiseki inspired tasting menu where Japanese technique sharpens South African ingredients: seafood gets the clean lines of dashi and tempura, indigenous botanicals and fynbos notes turn up in surprising places, and the whole thing moves with the rhythm of a well edited story rather than a parade of tricks.
