Set on a vast olive grove just outside the pulse of Marrakech, The Oberoi feels like an architectural love letter to the city’s imperial past. Its design draws inspiration from the Medersa Ben Youssef, with serene courtyards, carved cedar, geometric zellij and long water channels that cool both air and mood. The atmosphere is one of composed grandeur. Staff glide rather than walk, mint tea appears with perfect timing, and the Atlas Mountains quietly frame the horizon. Public spaces are the true triumph. Arcaded walkways and reflection pools invite slow wandering, especially at dusk when lantern light softens the monumental scale. Dining balances refinement with respect for Moroccan tradition, from fragrant tagines to precise international cuisine served on terraces scented by jasmine. Bedrooms, however, tell a different story. Comfort is undeniable, yet the décor leans toward a glossy contemporary style that feels slightly detached from the authenticity celebrated elsewhere. Still, the setting and architecture alone justify a stay or at least a lingering visit.
