The Venetian Las Vegas
3355 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109, USA — Las Vegas — United States
About
At the northern reach of the Las Vegas Strip, The Venetian rises with unabashed theatricality, a full scale homage to Venice rendered in cream stone and patient symmetry. When it opened in 1999 on the former Sands site, developer Sheldon Adelson replaced Rat Pack era glamour with something grander and faintly surreal. A replica of St Mark’s Campanile anchors the skyline while canals wind through marble arcades where gondoliers sing beneath painted skies. The effect could have been kitsch. Instead the architecture leans confidently into spectacle, a reminder that Las Vegas thrives on illusion. Yet there is craft in the details and a strange calm in the colonnades, where travelers pause, briefly convinced they have drifted toward the Adriatic.
