About

In the upper part of Patras, away from the port traffic and student bars, The Bold Type Hotel occupies a carefully restored 19th century mansion once owned by a local printing family. The name refers to that past, and the house still carries a certain quiet intellectual discipline rather than theatrical charm. The architecture does much of the work. A balanced neoclassical façade, tall windows, and a secluded garden create a sense of order that feels almost unexpected in Patras. Inside, the renovation is clean and controlled. Original features such as high ceilings and wooden staircases remain, paired with contemporary furniture in muted tones. The result is coherent and calm, though rarely surprising. Rooms follow the same logic. Recently updated, comfortable, and well proportioned, they favour restraint over personality. You will sleep well, but you are unlikely to remember the room itself. The small pool and garden offer a welcome pause from the city, and the overall atmosphere is composed without trying too hard. Breakfast is where the hotel becomes genuinely enjoyable. Local cheeses, proper yogurt, good bread and pastries set a tone that feels rooted in place. Beyond that, the kitchen remains pleasant rather than compelling. Patras is not a city that overwhelms with hotel choices. This one brings clarity. It gives you a base that feels considered, avoids generic solutions, and lets the destination take the lead.
