About
Marcel sits inside one of Manhattan’s most dramatic pieces of postwar architecture: Marcel Breuer’s 1966 granite and concrete museum building at 945 Madison Avenue, now Sotheby’s global headquarters. You enter for dinner and the setting does half the seduction for you: a cultural venue energy, an Upper East Side address, and a room designed in partnership with Roman and Williams, the studio with a proven weakness for French mood and good lighting. In the kitchen, chef partner Marie Aude Rose draws on Paris training and her work at La Mercerie, translating that confidence into what Marcel calls French Continental cooking, lavish and hearty in spirit, tuned for long dinners after an auction preview. The concept is tightly tied to the building too: named for Breuer, opening April 16, 2026, with service Wednesday to Sunday evenings. Come for the architecture, stay for the pleasure of a serious dining room that feels like part of the city’s cultural circuit rather than a standalone restaurant.
