About

At Punta Karace, on Pantelleria’s rugged coastal road between Cala Gadir and the Arco dell’Elefante, Osteria Il Principe e Il Pirata understands a simple truth: sea views only matter if the food can keep up. Here, the kitchen is driven by the Casano family rather than a celebrity chef, and that feels exactly right for the island. The setting is a typical Pantescan house with rustic interiors and a large terrace facing the water, the kind of place where lunch can quietly slide into sunset. The menu leans into Pantelleria with confidence. Traditional fish couscous arrives with vegetables and island memory intact, while dishes such as grilled octopus, fettuccelle with red tuna ragù, spaghetti with aged tumma pantesca and minty courgettes, and the local bacio pantesco dessert give the meal a clear sense of where you are. The wine list also gives proper space to Pantelleria’s bottles. It sounds obvious, yet on many islands this degree of local fidelity is surprisingly rare. Here, it seems built into the house.
