About

There is a certain confidence to Capella Taipei, the kind you usually only see in cities that already understand luxury. Set along Dunhua North Road, one of Taipei’s rare tree lined avenues, the hotel places you in a calmer, more residential rhythm of the city, within easy reach of Songshan Airport and the older urban fabric that still defines Taipei’s character. The architecture and interiors are led by André Fu, whose signature restraint is immediately recognisable. Rather than spectacle, he opts for proportion, light and tactility. Corridors feel residential rather than institutional, rooms open with a quiet sense of space, and materials lean toward warm stone, soft woods and carefully muted tones. It is polished, but never intimidating. Capella’s strength lies in how it choreographs intimacy within a city hotel. Public spaces are deliberately broken down into smaller salons and lounges, giving the impression of a private residence scaled up. The Capella Living Room concept works particularly well here, acting as both concierge and social hub without the stiffness of a traditional lobby. Dining follows the same logic. Expect a mix of refined international cuisine and local references, with a clear focus on execution rather than theatrics. It is elegant and consistent, though not yet a destination restaurant in its own right. What to expect: a very well run, design driven urban retreat that favours calm over statement. What not to expect: heritage storytelling or deep historical layers. This is contemporary Taipei, interpreted with precision.
