Travellers searching for minimalist design, rooftop DJs and the latest hospitality trend will find stronger contenders elsewhere. Beau Rivage appeals to a different instinct. It is the kind of hotel where the concierge still seems to know everybody, where breakfast unfolds at a civilized pace, and where a room overlooking the lake makes it remarkably easy to understand why generations of visitors decided to stay a little longer than planned.
