About

On the road between Pucón and Villarrica Volcano, andBeyond Vira Vira operates with a quiet confidence that feels rare in South America. What appears at first to be a refined lodge reveals itself as a working hacienda, set across a 22 hectare estate along the Liucura River. Guests arrive for the views of snow capped peaks and ancient forests, then slowly realise that the real architecture here is the way life is organised. The main house, rebuilt in a contemporary Alpine language with Chilean materials, avoids spectacle. Timber, glass and generous proportions create a sense of calm rather than design bravado. Suites and villas are deliberately spaced, often with private terraces facing the river or the volcano. Nothing feels dense or over programmed. The estate produces much of what ends up on the table. There is a dairy, a cheese cellar, even a small charcuterie operation. Meals lean into Mapuche traditions and southern Chilean ingredients without becoming folkloric. Expect lake fish, garden vegetables, wood fired preparations and a breakfast that makes a strong case for staying in. What sets Vira Vira apart is its rhythm. You can spend a morning rafting or hiking in Huerquehue National Park, return for a long lunch, and end the day watching the volcano change colour.
